JBLM’s Child & Youth Services (CYS)

JBLM’s CYS offers a diverse range of programs for children and teens—including child care (from infancy through age 12), family child care, youth sports and fitness, school-age and teen services, and Parent Central for registration and support—ensuring developmental, recreational, and academic enrichment.

Services are delivered across multiple on-base locations (Child Development Centers, Family Child Care homes, and Youth Centers), with easy access to registration, health screenings, and background-cleared programs.

2025 Pierce County Parks Scholarship Application

Pierce County Parks offers three scholarship programs for qualifying low-income families in 2025. These include up to $300 toward youth activity fees, full field trip coverage for teens in the Summer Life program, and full registration for participants in Specialized Recreation programs. Each scholarship supports access to enriching, community-based experiences.

2025 Summer Storytime Series at Karshner Museum

The Puyallup School District's 2025 Summer Storytime Series offers free, family-friendly reading events at the Karshner Museum Patio. Designed for children aged nine and under, each session features engaging read-alouds, hands-on activities, and a free copy of the featured book for attending families (while supplies last).

Christ Episcopal Church - Grab-and-Go Lunches

From June through August, the Lunches to Go ministry provides sack lunches to the homeless and others in need on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

City of Puyallup Counselor-in-Training Program

The City of Puyallup's Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program offers teens aged 13–15 an opportunity to develop leadership skills by assisting with summer day camps. Participants must commit to a minimum of four full weeks, with each week requiring a $30 fee, payable the Monday prior. CITs are scheduled for specific 8.5-hour shifts and are expected to lead campers in various activities such as games, songs, and crafts.

City of Puyallup Summer with the Library

The Puyallup Public Library's 2025 Summer Reading Program, running from June 1 to August 31, invites participants of all ages to explore new ideas, books, and activities. This free program offers badges and prizes for reading and completing activities, with kids and teens receiving a free book upon finishing the challenge. Participants can track their progress using the Beanstack app or a paper tracker available at the library.

Cosmic Kids Yoga YouTube Channel

This channel offers yoga, mindfulness, and relaxation content designed for kids ages 3–10. With 1.83 million subscribers and over 1,400 videos, it features themed “Yoga Adventures” inspired by popular content like Encanto, Minions, My Little Pony, dinosaurs, and more.

Fred Oldfield's Western Heritage & Art Center

Fred Oldfield's Western Heritage & Art Center in Puyallup offers week-long summer art camps for K-12 students in July and August. Morning sessions are from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and afternoon sessions from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., each priced at $120.

Google Arts and Culture Collections

Google Arts & Culture is an initiative of the Google Cultural Institute that collaborates with over 2,000 museums, galleries, and archives to digitize and share global cultural heritage, including high-resolution artwork, 3D objects, virtual museum tours, and immersive experiences via augmented reality.

Hope Encounter Back-To-School Event - Sunday, August 17

Hope Encounter is a free community resource fair hosted by New Hope Church in collaboration with Convoy of Hope and Communities In Schools of Puyallup, taking place on Sunday, August 17, from noon to 3 p.m. at Firgrove Elementary.

Families are invited to enjoy complimentary groceries, shoes and socks for kids, backpacks, school supplies, a hot dog lunch, inflatables, and games in the Kids Fun Zone (while supplies last).

The event is also seeking volunteers.
