Home Hospital Services

• Work at least 3 hours a day on assignments
• Complete assignments in a timely manner
• Be prepared to work at scheduled tutoring sessions
• Ask for help or clarification

• Have an adult in the home during scheduled tutoring sessions
• Provide a clean, quiet work area
• Support student in meeting responsibilities
• Communicate with school when student will return to school
• Complete & return Home/Hospital feedback form to PSS

• Arrange with parents for 2 one-hour tutoring sessions per week
• Contact school staff about class assignments
• Gather and deliver assignments to student
• Provide assistance and guidance to student
• Provide feedback and return completed work to teachers
• Consult with parents on student’s progress
• Inform Special Services when student returns to school

• Provide assignments and related materials in a timely manner — Emphasis on core subjects.
• Make accommodations and modifications, as needed, on assignments
• Correct and grade assignments

If the student has an illness which will require intermittent absences, H/H tutoring services may also be provided.

When intermittent H/H services are needed, they should be used to provide for absences lasting a week or more at a time (with a minimum of 4 weeks of total absences and no more than a semester) if all criteria have been met in determining eligibility.

Tutoring is not provided during school vacations unless students are enrolled in a district summer school program.

Please note that Home/Hospital services start on the day Special Services receives the written statement signed by a qualified medical practitioner. Services end on the day the student returns to school.
