Water Quality Testing and Conservation

The Puyallup School District takes a proactive approach to maintaining safe drinking water in our schools. As part of Washington state requirements, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) conducted water quality sampling in school buildings during the 2025-26 school year. Routine water testing is an important step in ensuring water quality, as lead can sometimes be present in older plumbing materials, pipes, or fixtures. Testing results help identify when remedial actions - such as fixture replacement, plumbing modifications, or temporary shutoff - may be necessary.

When testing identifies fixtures above the state’s recommended action level, the district takes immediate steps to limit use of those fixtures while remediation and follow-up testing are completed. Throughout this process, PSD works in consultation with the Washington State Department of Health and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
