WASA Recognizes PSD Students, Staff and Community Leaders at Annual Awards Ceremony

Four Puyallup award recipients are recognized as 2026 WASA Region 111 Awards recipients, including two students, one staff member, and one community leader.

The Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Region 111 annual awards ceremony took place on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Pierce County Skills Center in Puyallup. The Puyallup School District celebrates four individuals, including two students, recognized for their outstanding contributions to education, leadership, and the Puyallup School District community.

Puyallup School District Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Student Support, Dr. Vincent Pecchia, received the 2026 WASA Award of Merit for his exceptional leadership and lasting impact on the Puyallup School District through multiple leadership roles. Throughout his career, he has strengthened district systems while fostering a culture of trust, belonging, and support, ensuring that students and staff feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed. Through her leadership of the Friends of the Karshner Museum, Becky Condra received a WASA Community Leadership Award for more than three decades of dedicated service and leadership in support of student learning and community engagement through the Friends of the Karshner Museum. Her efforts have expanded educational opportunities, strengthened community connections, and helped create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for students and families throughout the region. Emerald Ridge High School senior Sophia Pierson earned a 2026 WASA Student Leadership Award for her outstanding servant leadership, dedication to community service, and commitment to helping others succeed. Through her leadership in Key Club, National Honor Society, and numerous community organizations, she has fostered inclusion, supported students academically, and made a meaningful difference for families and individuals throughout the Puyallup community.

Rogers High School senior Korinne Mensonides earned a $500 student scholarship from WASA, an achievement that highlights her perseverance, dedication, and commitment to academic success. This scholarship will support Korrine's educational journey while recognizing the hard work, leadership, and determination she has demonstrated in her time at Rogers High School.
