Spanish Dual Language Program: Fall 2024 Application Period Now Open!
The Puyallup School District is one of a few districts in Washington state to offer an elementary dual language program, bringing together Spanish and English speakers in one classroom.
Now through May 31, applications are being accepted for entry into the program at the following locations:
- Students entering grades K: Dessie Evans Elementary, Karshner Elementary, and Puyallup Digital Learning
- Students entering grades 3-6: Karshner Elementary*
*Students must demonstrate proficiency in Spanish at or above their grade level to be considered.
Instruction is carefully designed and intentionally conducted in both English and Spanish. As a result, students have the opportunity to become literate and fluent in both languages.
What If My Student Is A Current Dual Language Student?
Current Dual Language families do not need to reapply.
This application period is an opportunity for existing or new PSD students to gain entry into the program. Space is limited.
What Happens If My Child Is Accepted Into the Program?
Once accepted, students commit to continuing in the program through grade 12. If students do not reside in Dessie Evans or Karshner Elementary attendance boundaries, transportation will be provided through hub locations, and designated bus stop locations for students within a neighborhood.
