Shaw Road Elementary Earns 2026 Washington Schools on the Rise Award

Shaw Road Elementary School has once again been recognized by the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP) and the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) as a 2026 Washington Schools on the Rise Award recipient. The statewide honor recognizes schools that intentionally elevate student voice and foster meaningful partnerships between students and adults to strengthen school culture.

Presented annually at the AWSP Summer Conference, the Washington Schools on the Rise Award celebrates schools that demonstrate authentic student engagement, shared leadership, and inclusive decision-making. Award recipients are selected based on evidence of systems that empower students to help shape their school community and create positive outcomes for all learners.

Shaw Road Elementary has built a culture where students are encouraged to lead, collaborate, and contribute to decisions that impact their learning environment. Through intentional opportunities for student leadership and partnership, the school continues to create a welcoming community where every student feels valued, heard, and connected.

The Washington Schools on the Rise Award was established to recognize schools where students and adults work together to strengthen school culture through authentic collaboration and student leadership. Shaw Road joins schools from across Washington state selected for exemplifying these practices.
