Apply to Become a 2025-26 Student Attendance Success Board Member

The Puyallup School District is currently recruiting volunteers to join the 2025-26 Student Attendance Success Board (SASB).

This is an excellent opportunity for community members, educators, and parents to make a positive impact on the lives of students and families within the district.

What Opportunities Come With Serving on the Board?

By joining the Student Attendance Success Board, volunteers can play an essential role in shaping the future of our schools and ensuring every child in the Puyallup School District receives the support and resources they need to succeed. 

Also, volunteers will have the opportunity to: 

  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and families to address truancy and student engagement issues. 

  • Partner with community organizations and stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for improving attendance and student success. 

  • Advocate for the needs of students and families within the district. 

  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills in community engagement and connecting students and families to critical resources. 

Do I Need Any Prior Experience to Serve on the Board?

No prior experience is required – just a dedication to serving the community and a commitment to the success of our students. The Puyallup School District welcomes individuals from all backgrounds to apply.

Expectations from Board Members

Participants can expect a time commitment of approximately 1–3 hours per week. Some weeks may not include any meetings, and individuals have the flexibility to accept or decline meeting invitations based on their availability. 

Also, all participants are required to complete an orientation training before beginning their service.

  • Orientation Session #1 - Monday, September 15, 4-5 p.m.
  • Orientation Session #2 - Monday, September 22, 8-9 a.m.

Schedule, Application Deadline, and Timeline

The SASB will meet weekly, beginning October 1, 2025. Volunteers would be assigned to a meeting with their preferred choice, and can participate in the following options: 

  • In person, which would be held at the students' school building 
  • Virtually via Microsoft Teams
  • Phone

The deadline to apply is Monday, June 9, 2025. Applications will begin to be reviewed on Tuesday, June 10.
