Request for High School Curriculum Materials: Contemporary World Problems

The Puyallup School District Teaching and Learning Department is seeking information and pricing quotations for High School Contemporary World Problems curriculum to support instruction in grades 10-12.

Course Overview

High School Contemporary World Problems examines international, national, and local issues through current events, media literacy, and multiple perspectives to help students understand complex, real-world challenges.

Key Dates

  • Request for Information (RFI) release date: Thursday, November 6, 2025
  • Written response due: Friday, January 9, 2026, by 4:00 p.m.
  • Sample materials due: Friday, January 9, 2026, by 3:45 p.m.

What We are Looking For

We invite vendors to submit a white paper (max 30 pages, PDF preferred) addressing the criteria below for Contemporary World Problems instructional materials. Submissions should highlight alignment with Washington State standards, inquiry-based learning, and relevance to students’ identities and lived experiences.

White Paper Requirements

Section 1 - Administrative Information

  • Provide:
    • company name
    • business address
    • name of point of contact
    • email address
    • telephone number
    • business license number, EIN
    • business type (corporation, partnership, individual, other).

Section 2 - References

  • List at least three organizations that have used your materials for one year or more and can provide feedback.

Section 3 - Quality Summary

  • Explain why your curriculum is high-quality, including design principles, research base, assessment approach, and evidence of impact.

Section 4 - Instructional Questions

  • Address the following:
    1. How do your curriculum materials allow students to engage in inquiry-based learning? 

    2. How do your curriculum materials address the learning needs of all students including, but not limited to, students not reading at grade level, multilingual learners who qualify for English language learning services, students with learning differences, and extensions for students who are exceeding grade-level standards? 

    3. How do your curriculum materials integrate current events and media literacy skills development?

    4. How are your curriculum materials relevant to Puyallup School District student identity, community and current realities? 

Section 5 - Itemized Quote (Valid 120 Days)

  • Include pricing for:
    • 5 hard copies of teacher’s editions
    • 5 teacher online access (7-year access)
    • 45 student textbooks
    • 250 student online access (7-year access)
    • 32 hours of professional development (over 3 school years)
