PSD PTAs Earn Statewide Recognition at 2025 State Conference

PTAs across the Puyallup School District continue to lead by example, earning prestigious awards for their outstanding membership efforts, communication strategies, and community engagement at the 2025 Washington State PTA (WSPTA) Convention. Several local schools were honored in multiple categories, reflecting their dedication to creating strong partnerships between families, schools, and communities.

  • Outstanding Primary PTA of the Year - Recognizing local PTAs and councils that, when compared to all others in their unique circumstances, are the most representative examples of PTAs that exemplify WSPTA's purposes and mission.

  • 100% Staff Gold Award - Awarded to PTAs that enrolled the same number of PTA members as there are full-time certificated staff at their school.

  • Outstanding Communication Strategy: Gold Level - Awarded to PTAs with exemplary communication practices that effectively inform and engage their school communities.

  • Theme, Goal, Online Join Winner - Celebrates PTAs that effectively promoted their theme, goals, and online join strategies during the membership campaign.

  • WSPTA Leadership Service Award - This program honors PTA leaders for their growth and contributions across all levels of the association. By earning points through committee work, presentations, and participation in WSPTA and National PTA events, leaders can advance through four recognition levels—Bronze to Crystal, with Crystal as the highest.
    • Bronze Level - Krystle Burnum: Ferrucci Junior High PTSA, and Ridgecrest PTA
    • Silver Level- Katie Diaz: Pope Elementary PTA and Puyallup PTA Council
    • Gold and Crystal Level -  Chhunla McKeever: Puyallup PTA Council and WSPTA Region 5 Service Committee

McKeever was also a co-presenter for two classes at the convention this year: "Secretary" and "Effective Conflict Management."
