Based on results received from Pierce County Elections on February 12, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
We want to thank voters for their participation in the February 11 special election, and are cautiously optimistic about the outcome. While the supermajority has been met, we must also achieve the necessary voter validation threshold. Currently, we are approximately 3,000 ballots short of validating. We understand the challenges that bond elections present in Washington State, and we appreciate the community's participation in this critical process.
If validation is not achieved, our district will need to navigate several challenges, including tax rate increases for future bond measures, rising project costs of 4.5-6% annually, persistent overcrowding from student growth, and the potential closure of facilities to ensure safety for students and staff.
In the coming days, we will continue monitoring the results and engage with the community to obtain feedback and explore alternative solutions for our district's immediate and growing needs.
