May 29 Update: Ferrucci Junior High Update

The update below was shared with Ferrucci Junior High families and incoming Ferrucci 7th grade families on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Following ongoing testing, assessment, and restoration planning related to the April 4 fire, we have learned that Ferrucci Junior High will not be ready for occupancy at the start of the 2026-27 school year.

We know many students, staff, and families were looking forward to returning to Ferrucci this fall. While this is not the update we had hoped to share, our focus remains on developing a thoughtful plan that supports students, staff, and families for the upcoming school year.

Over the past several weeks, the district has continued to work closely with restoration experts, contractors, and additional partners to evaluate the condition of the facility. Based on the most current information available, additional work will be required before students and staff can safely return to the building.

This update will certainly raise questions about what comes next and what the 2026-27 school year will look like for returning Ferrucci families and incoming sixth grade families. District staff are actively working through those plans and will be sharing additional updates by June 16th, as previously communicated. If you have not already completed the survey sent earlier this week, we encourage you to do so, as your input will help inform our planning.

We remain committed to keeping families informed throughout this process. Families can continue to find restoration reports, project updates, School Board presentations, and additional information on the Ferrucci Junior High Restoration webpage.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and partnership as we continue working toward the successful restoration of Ferrucci Junior High.
