Celebrating Native American Heritage Month 2024
Native American Heritage Month is celebrated every November in the United States.
As the first Americans, Native Americans have made significant contributions to the establishment and growth of our country, and it's important to recognize and appreciate their valuable contributions.
Since Native American Heritage Month became a federally recognized month-long observance in 1990, it has provided a platform for Native Americans to share their music, crafts, dance, and ways of life. Also, it serves as an opportunity to educate the public and promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the unique and valuable cultural heritage of Native Americans.
Puyallup School District Native American Education Program
Supported by our families and community, the Puyallup School District Native American Education Program strives to improve academic achievement, attendance, and graduation rates of Native American and Alaska Native students while also enhancing their social and cultural awareness.
The Native program currently serves 944 students in 34 schools representing 65 Native American tribes, bands, or groups in the Puyallup School District and continues to grow.
