In a unanimous decision at the September 15th school board meeting, the Board approved a resolution directing the Interim Superintendent to develop a Budget Restoration Plan for the 2026-27 school year. This plan serves as part of a multi-year strategy to return the district to fiscal sustainability in the face of projected expenditure increases and potential revenue shortfalls.

The district is committed to addressing these budget challenges while prioritizing student outcomes, equity, and the preservation of essential programs and services. By fostering collaborative efforts with staff, labor partners, and the community, the district will explore a range of options to minimize the impact on classrooms and ensure the continuation of vital programs that promote student success. In addition to considering potential reductions in central office and school staffing, department and program budgets, and mutually agreeable adjustments to bargained expenses, the district will actively engage in dialogue and problem-solving to identify solutions that best serve the needs of students.

Throughout the development and implementation of the Budget Restoration Plan, the district pledges to ensure transparent communication, engage stakeholders, and use data to guide decision-making.

A draft plan will be presented to the Board by February 2026 for review and adoption before the 2026-27 budget approval process.
