2025 Varsity Letter in Volunteer Service Recipients

a wideshot of students who earned a varisty letter in community service

The Puyallup School District proudly continues its tradition of honoring students who make a difference through service. Now in its ninth year, the Varsity Letter in Volunteer Service program recognizes students who have dedicated significant time to supporting their communities.

Community Service Lettering History

Launched in the 2016–17 school year, this program has become a valued tradition in Puyallup. To earn a varsity letter, students must complete a minimum of 150 hours of volunteer service during the school year. In addition to logging their hours, students submit a written reflection summarizing their experience and impact.

How Can Students Earn Their Varsity Letter?

Volunteer efforts span a wide range of activities, from assisting at local food banks and coaching youth sports to participating in faith-based programs, charitable organizations, and school-based initiatives like Communities in Schools’ March Gladness projects. At the heart of this program is a shared goal: to foster a strong culture of service throughout the district.

This school year, 86 students in grades 7–12 earned a varsity letter by completing at least 150 hours of service. That’s nearly equivalent to one full month of full-time work: 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Congratulations to the following students on this outstanding achievement!
