Discover how the Native peoples of the Puget Sound region lived, loved, and cared for the world around them through everyday objects, photographs, maps, and interactive displays.

A museum display case labeled “Food Gathering and Cooking,” showcasing a variety of woven baskets used by Native peoples for harvesting, preparing, and cooking food. The baskets vary in size, shape, and weave, and some have informational tags. The case also includes a stone tool and educational signage, all set against a wood floor background.

This unique exhibit features a variety of baskets, tools, fishing and hunting materials, canoes, and other cultural artifacts. Learn how local tribes have long stewarded the natural resources they rely on, and explore the important work they continue to do today to protect the environment, support the state’s economy, and celebrate their vibrant, living cultures.
