Overview

The purpose of this position is to monitor students on school grounds enforcing rules, providing for a safe environment and reporting behavior incidents to principal or teacher; may assist with instructional materials; other duties may be assigned.  

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Engages with students in school environment 
     
  • Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional/behavioral programs, and lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students’ academic and life skill success through a defined course of study.
     
  • May work with students in special education including one on one with a student. 
     
  • Assists with the supervision of students during building activities, such as assemblies and special programs 

 

Minimum Employment Requirements

  • Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.

In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following:

  • Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
  • Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council
