Overview
Highly capable students perform or show potential for performing at significantly advanced academic levels when compared with others of their age, experiences, or environments. Outstanding abilities are seen within students' general intellectual aptitudes, specific academic abilities, and/or creative productivities within a specific domain. These students are present not only in the general populace but are present within all protected classes.
PSD Highly Capable Identification Model
Students New to the District: 2025-26 School Year
Applications for highly capable testing will be taken for new students to the district students throughout the summer for testing in August prior to the 2025-26 school year. Please provide copies of current state, Math and Reading assessments, CogAT, and highly capable program placement letters from former schools to highlycapable@puyallupsd.org for your applicant.
Highly Capable Student Placement and Start-of-Year Details
Qualified/identified students who have been selected for Highly Capable services in 2025-26 are being placed at their regional host school or at one of the host schools with available space. Please find school supply lists at your host school website. The QUEST and PAGE bus schedules will be posted on the transportation website as soon as they are available. Afternoon bus runs return students to their feeder schools. Plan to attend your host school's Back to School event. Schools will send information to students/families.
