Transition to Kindergarten
The 2024-2025 Transition to Kindergarten Registration is closed. However, we are accepting WAITLIST applications at this time.
Waitlist applicants will be prioritized by the following program requirements:
- Birthdate between Sept. 1, 2019 and Aug. 31, 2020
- Live within the Puyallup School District boundary
- Demonstrate a need for additional assistance to be ready for kindergarten
- Have not had previous pre-school or pre-k experience
Overview
Transition to Kindergarten (TK) reflects our commitment to provide the best possible start for our young learners.
As a free, OSPI authorized program, TK aims to support children who are at least 4 years old by August 31 and do not have access to high-quality early learning experiences.
Students are identified through a screening process as needing additional support to be successful in kindergarten the following academic year

Transition to Kindergarten is a free program designed to assist pre-k-aged learners who would benefit from additional support to be successful in kindergarten.
Transition to Kindergarten Locations
Transition to Kindergarten (TK) is offered at 14 of our 22 elementary schools.
Students who live within the boundaries of a school without a TK program will be offered enrollment at a TK school upon acceptance into the program.
TK follows the same bell schedule as grades k-6 within the host school. The only difference with between TK's Program Schedule and the host school's regular schedule is the first and last days of school.

Transportation
Students who reside within the boundary of the Transition to Kindergarten (TK) host school may take the regular PSD school bus to/from school; along with other K-6th grade students.
Students who do not reside within the boundary area of the TK host school can either be dropped off by parent/guardian or may have access to a shuttle from their residential boundary building.
