Registration

Parents may register kindergartners and all other elementary students new to the district at the elementary schools in their attendance area. Contact your elementary school directly to determine registration times.

The Puyallup School District has full-day Kindergarten for all students at each of our elementary schools. View the Washington State Legislature Kindergarten Regulation WAC 392-335-010.

To register students for kindergarten and first grade, please provide a copy of your child’s immunization record, a birth certificate and proof of address such as a lease agreement or utility bill. 

Children must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year to be eligible to register for kindergarten.

To register for the Puyallup Parent Partnership Program (P4), use the online Student Registration and Enrollment  Center, or print out and submit the fillable enrollment packet (below) to the P4 registrar.

Dual Language Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year opens Saturday, February 1, 2025.

• Kindergarten - Open to both English and Spanish-speaking Families.
• Grades 1-7 - Open to Spanish-speaking families depending on classroom space and the student's Spanish-language proficiency level based on a required interview and evaluation.

Parents may register junior high students who are new to the district by calling the junior high school in their attendance area for specific registration information and to make an appointment to meet with a counselor.

Prior to the student's registration appointment, please complete the online registration information or you can obtain an enrollment packet from our District office or your child's school. In addition, please bring the following forms to complete the registration process:

• immunization record
• Current Report Card or Transcript
• Proof of address such as a current utility bill or a lease agreement
• Individualized Education Plan (IEP) if the student receives special services

Puyallup School District offers the following Pre-K programs for children that will not be five until after August 31st for the upcoming school year.

Puyallup Early Entrance to Kindergarten (PEEK)

Washington State law requires that children must be at least five years of age on or before August 31 to enroll in kindergarten. PEEK is an opportunity for children with a birthdate between  September 1-30 to be considered for early entrance to kindergarten if they meet certain requirements.

Transition to Kindergarten

Transition to Kindergarten (formerly Kindergarten Academy) is a free program designed to assist young learners who would benefit from additional support to be successful in kindergarten. This free program is available to families who meet our program requirements.

Special Education

For children who are not yet kindergarten age and have been receiving special education services on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) such as speech therapy or developmental preschool, please contact the District's Special Services and Programs office at (253)841-8700.

After special education eligibility has been confirmed, you will be given registration and enrollment information.

Prior to the student's registration appointment, please complete the online registration information or you can obtain an enrollment packet from our District office or your child's school.  In addition, please bring the following forms to complete the registration process:

RCW 28A. 225 defines instruction as home-based if it consists of planned and supervised instructional and related educational activities including curriculum and instruction in the basic skills of occupational education, science, mathematics, language, social studies, history, health, reading, writing, spelling, and the development of an appreciation of art and music.

Use the PSD GIS Portal to verify your attending area school.  If more assistance is needed, please call the district administrative offices at (253)841-1301. Provide the receptionist with your home address and grade level of your student. From there you’ll be directed to the school where you’ll register your student.

For children who are not yet kindergarten age and have been receiving special education services on an individualized education plan (IEP) such as speech therapy or developmental preschool, please contact Special Services at (253)841-8700. After special education eligibility has been confirmed, you will be given registration and enrollment information. 

1. Proof of residency (one of the following forms is acceptable):
   
   Copy of a current utility bill received within the last 30 days
   Copy of lease/rental agreement with rental receipt
   Copy of mortgage papers 
    
2. Immunization information.
    
3. Birth Certificate or equivalent, such as adoption record, a certified statement from physician or an immunization record with a birthdate - (Board Policy 3110) for students in kindergarten or first grade.
    
4. Most recent report card from previous grade. Parents of special needs students should also bring a copy of current IEP/special education evaluation, relevant medical documentation, and any other relevant evaluative information.

When you meet with any one of the school counselors, you can expect a high level of professionalism, respect, and understanding.

The goal of our counselors is to assist in creating a program where your student’s individual needs are met and success is achieved.

Parents of special needs students will be asked to complete a few extra forms, including an Exchange of Confidential Information. This form allows the district to request special education records from your student’s previous school district.  These forms will be provided during the registration process.

If your child has a life threatening condition such as asthma, diabetes, seizures, or severe allergies, please call your new School Nurse to set up an appointment to formulate an Emergency Action Plan for the current school year before your child starts school.
