Overview
The Puyallup School District allows for students living outside the district boundaries to request a waiver to attend school in this district. Please do not complete the enrollment process until approved to attend Puyallup SD.
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. The student is not able to utilize a Puyallup School District bus.

Please review the sections below carefully before applying. Choosing the correct option will help avoid delays.
Choice Transfer Request / Moved or Renewal
You will submit a Choice Transfer Request if your child:

Resides outside of the PSD boundaries and want to continue in the PSD for either 2025-26 or 2026-27 school year.

Recently moved* outside the PSD Boundaries.
*Families have five days from the date they move to complete a Choice Transfer Request to remain active in the PSD.
Renewal applicant or recently moved outside the PSD boundaries (for current or next school year)

Interested in having your out of district student attend the Puyallup School District for the first time (not currently active in PSD)? Complete Step 1 and Step 2.
- Do NOT submit a Non-Resident Application if:
- Your child currently attends a PSD school, and
- Your family recently moved or changed addresses

Submit a Choice Transfer Request
Timeline for Out-of-District Waivers: 2026-27 School Year
- Elementary - Application window opens February 14, 2026
- Applications submitted by February 28 will be reviewed by April 15.
- Applications submitted after March 1 will be reviewed on or after May 1.
- Applications submitted after June 15 will be reviewed on or after the 4th day of school.
- Secondary (Grades 7-12) - Application window opens December 10, 2025
- Applications received by January 9 will be reviewed on or after February 28.
- Applications submitted after January 10 will be reviewed on or after April 10.
- Applications submitted after June 1 will be reviewed on or after the 4th day of school.
2025-26 School Year (Current School Year)
Interested in having your out of district student attend the Puyallup School District for the first time (not currently active in PSD)? Complete Step 1 and Step 2.

Appeals
Parents/guardians have the right to appeal a denied or revoked waiver request.
Email a letter to BrobbG@puyallupsd.org within five business days of receipt of the denial notification.
Gordon Brobbey, Director of Equity and Student Success, will review your appeal request within 15 school days. A written decision will then be issued.
