Registration

Families enrolling a new student in the Puyallup School District begin by completing the online New Student Registration Form, with school assignment determined by their home address.

New Student Enrollment Overview

If your student meets one of the criteria below, follow the enrollment steps further down the page to complete registration.

  • Has not attended a PSD school previously
  • Has previously withdrawn and is returning to the district.
  • Students currently enrolled in the Puyallup School District do not need to re-enroll.

Age Requirements for Kindergarten and Grade Placement

  • For the 2026-27 school year, kindergarten students must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2026.
  • Grade placement for grades 1-12 is based on previous school records, transcripts, or report cards.

Are there Early Learning Options in the Puyallup School District for Children Who Do Not Meet the Kindergarten Age Requirement?

  • For students who do not meet the age requirement indicated above, may qualify for one of the district's early learning options. Enrollment is dependent on approval of an enrollment application, and assessment or screening of students may be required as part of that process. Early learning options include:
    • PEEK (Early Entrance to Kindergarten)  - for children with birthdays between September 1-30.
    • Transition to Kindergarten (TK) for Pre-K-age children who may benefit from additional preparation.
    • Special Education Preschool Programs (Ages 3-5). The district offers two preschool programs for qualifying children ages 3-5. An application is required for both programs. Following the application process, children will participate in screening and assessment activities to determine eligibility and appropriate program placement.

      • Child Find: Developmental Screening is designed for children ages 3-5 whose parent or guardian has concerns about their development, learning, communication, behavior, or overall progress. Screening helps determine whether a child may qualify for special education services.

      • Developmental Preschool is designed for children ages 3-5 with identified disabilities who require special education services. Eligibility and placement are determined through an evaluation process based on the child's educational needs.

Please note: Participation in either program is based on eligibility criteria and assessment results.
