Families whose student is new to the Puyallup School District in grades K-12 will continue the online enrollment process (steps 2-3) if they plan to attend the following comprehensive schools:

New students living within Puyallup School District boundaries who wish to attend a PSD school outside their neighborhood school: Please submit an in-district transfer request before enrolling your student.

New Out-of-District Students: Please complete the out-of-district waiver process first. You will be able to continue the enrollment process (steps 2-3) when your waiver has been approved.

Additional New Student Enrollment Options 

• Puyallup Digital Learning (PDL) offers two alternative learning experience programs:

  • Puyallup Parent Partnership Program (P4) (Grades K-8)  is a flexible learning option for K-8 students that blends at-home instruction with the support of a certificated teacher, a monthly in-person opportunity, and a monthly community outing. P4 is ideal for self-motivated learners, can support students with nontraditional schedules, and is designed for learners who benefit from flexibility. 

    • Grades K-5: Online (video-based instruction with certificated teacher support)

    • Grades K-8: Homebased (parent-led instruction)

• Puyallup Online Academy (POA) (Grades 6-12) is a flexible learning option that allows students in grades 6-12 to complete coursework independently online while receiving support from certificated teachers and the option to attend in-person study halls. It’s designed for families seeking an alternative to traditional schools, giving students the independence to learn at their own pace while still connecting socially and academically. 

  • New In-District PDL Students: Families will continue the online enrollment process (steps 2-3).

  • New Out-of-District PDL Students: Families will need to complete the PDL pre-enrollment survey. After reviewing the survey, the PDL team will determine whether they can serve the student. If approved, enrollment documents will be sent electronically.

• Walker High School (Grades 9-12) offers smaller, more personalized learning environment for high school students. With an emphasis on building strong relationships and supporting individual student needs, Walker provides flexible pathways to graduation in a supportive setting.
   
• Puyallup Open Doors (POD) (Ages 16-21), offered through Walker High School, is a reengagement program that provides flexible, personalized learning for students who are behind in credits or balancing work and family responsibilities. With teacher guidance and case management support, students can recover credits, earn a high school diploma, or prepare for the GED while accessing resources to support their success.
   
• Walker High/POD New Student Enrollment Process
  • New students will interview with Walker High Principal Michael Sanchez. To schedule an interview:

    • Puyallup Open Doors - Email Shannon Jimenez
  • If accepted:
    • New In-District Students - Continue the online enrollment process (steps 2-3).
    • New Out-of-District Students - Complete the choice transfer request form first. Once you receive approval from the PSD Waivers Department, continue the online enrollment process (steps 2-3).

• Home-Based Instruction, under RCW 28A.225, consists of planned and supervised instructional and related educational activities including curriculum and instruction in the basic skills of occupational education, science, mathematics, language, social studies, history, health, reading, writing, spelling, and the development of an appreciation of art and music.

Have the following documents ready to upload when you begin the online enrollment process:

• Proof of Residency - Complete the Verification of Residency Form and provide one of the following documents: 
  • Escrow papers, mortgage statement, or HOA fee statement
  • Lease or rental agreement with current rent receipt
  • Landlord letter on apartment complex or mobile home park letterhead
  • Utility bill (gas, electric, water, cable TV, garbage, or landline phone)
  • Homeowner or renter’s insurance statement
  • Verification of social services
  • Verification of living with another person (that person must also be listed as a contact on the Enrollment Form)

• Proof of Age (For new kindergarten and first grade students only): the Puyallup School District requires a copy of your child’s birth certificate or an approved equivalent (Board Policy 3110). Acceptable documents include:

  • Adoption record

  • Certified statement from a physician

  • Immunization record with birthdate

If you do not have a birth certificate, you can request one from the Washington State Department of Health Vital Records website (for students born in Washington State).

• Immunization Requirements: Washington state law requires all students to be fully immunized before registering for public school. Families must complete the Immunization Record Form and provide proof of the following vaccines:

  • Diphtheria

  • Tetanus

  • Pertussis (whooping cough)

  • Polio

  • Measles

  • Mumps

  • Rubella

  • Hepatitis B

  • Varicella (chickenpox)

• Academic Records (Grades 9-12):  An official transcript is recommended to help staff place your student in the right classes and support a smooth transition.

• OSPI Home Language Survey:  The Home Language Survey helps schools identify students who may need support developing English language skills for classroom success. It also determines if students may qualify for additional services.

The OSPI Language Survey asks if your student's grandparent(s) or parent(s) have a Native American tribal affiliation. If you answer yes to this question, you will also need to complete the Title VI (506) Indian Student Eligibility Certification Form.

• Student Housing  - The Student Housing Questionnaire helps determine if a student’s housing situation qualifies them for additional support and services under the federal McKinney-Vento Act.

• History of the Student's Health: Complete the Student Health History form. 
  • Students with life-threatening conditions (e.g, asthma, diabetes, seizures, or severe allergies): Please contact your new school nurse as soon as possible to create an Emergency Action Plan for the school year. This plan must be in place before your child can attend school (RCW 28A.210.320).

• Students with Special Needs: Parents/legal guardians of special needs students will need to provide the following documents:
  • Copy of current IEP/Special Education Evaluation and any other relevant evaluative information
  • Copies of relevant medical documentation
  • Complete the Exchange of Confidential Information form

Please Note: The PowerSchool Enrollment Account is only used to enroll new or previously enrolled students in the Puyallup School District. This account will be separate from other accounts you may have if you currently have students in the district (Home Access Center, Schoology, etc.). If you have registered another student online in the past, please use that same account.

New to PowerSchool Enrollment?

3. Enter your Email Address and then select the Continue button. You will then be presented with two options to recover your password:
   • Email (Temporary Password Sent to Your Email)
   • Online (By Answering Security Questions)

Puyallup School District offers the following Pre-K programs for children that will not be five until after August 31st for the upcoming school year.

• Puyallup Early Entrance to Kindergarten (PEEK) is a free program for children with a birthdate between  September 1-30 to be considered for early entrance to kindergarten if they meet certain requirements. Washington State law requires that children must be at least five years of age on or before August 31 to enroll in kindergarten.
   
• Transition to Kindergarten (formerly Kindergarten Academy) is a free program designed to assist young learners who would benefit from additional support to be successful in kindergarten. This free program is available to families who meet our program requirements.
   
• Special Education - For children who are not yet kindergarten age and have been receiving special education services on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) such as speech therapy or developmental preschool, please contact the District's Special Services and Programs office at (253)841-8700.

After special education eligibility has been confirmed, you will be given registration and enrollment information.

Use the online boundary map tool to verify your attending area school. 

If additional assistance is needed, please call the district administrative offices at (253)-841-1301. Provide the receptionist with your home address and grade level of your student. From there you’ll be directed to the school where you’ll register your student.

 

Parents of students receiving special education services will be asked to complete a few additional forms, including an Exchange of Confidential Information. This form allows the district to request your student’s special education records from their previous school. All necessary forms will be provided during the registration process.
