1:1 Student Device Program

Step 1:  Go to the Home Access Center (HAC)

Step 2: Log in to your Home Access Account (HAC)

Username: Your Home Access Center Email Address

Password: Your own unique password

 

Step 3: Access the “Returning Student Registration” form in HAC.

To update your student’s information, go to the Registration icon, select the Update Enrollment tab, and then select the Start link to complete your student's annual Returning Student Registration Form.

 

Step 4: Fill out form

For Parents/Guardians with a student who will attend Grades 4-12, the Student Technology Agreement section is located under the Signature portion of the form will need to be filled out before you can submit the application.

 

Step 5: Read/review the Student Laptop Responsible Use and Safety Agreement by clicking the blue hyperlink. Once read, indicate you have done so by checking the box.

 

Step 6: After you indicate you have read, understand and agree to the Student Laptop Responsible Use and Safety Agreement, type your initials into the box.

 

Step 7: Finish and submit the form.

Seventh through twelfth graders will check out a Windows 10 computer to use for school.

Incoming 7th and 10th grade students will receive a Lenovo 500w computer with an 11.6 in touch screen display.

It has both front-facing and world-facing cameras, a stylus for digital inking, and a built-in microphone.

While you should save all your documents to your district provided OneDrive, the Lenovo has a 256GB hard drive and 8GB total memory.

It is Bluetooth enabled, too.

You will use the same computer each year for 7 - 9th grades and then get a new computer for 10 - 12th grades. 

Taking some basic precautions will keep your computer happy and functional at all times. If it does break, you can check out a loaner device (a "hotswap") from your school's library to use while your computer is being repaired. See the tips below for suggestions to keep your computer in great shape.

 

Caring for Your Computer at Home:

• Always leave your computer plugged in overnight or when not in use.  Updates run during the night, and you will have a low battery if not plugged in.
• Store the computer on a desk or table, not on the floor.
• Protect your computer from:
  • Spills of food or drinks
  • Rain, direct sunlight, freezing temperatures
  • Small children
  • Pets
• Cleaning your computer:
  • You can use a sanitizing wipe for the keyboard and outside surfaces
  • For the touch screen, use a soft, lint-free, cloth dampened with water or eyeglass cleaner.

 

Using Wi-Fi at Home:

1. After you log in to your device, click on the Wi-Fi icon on the taskbar.

 

2. Select your Home Wi-Fi network's name, check the box that says "Connect Automatically" and click "Connect."

 

3. You may have to enter your home Wi-Fi password. If you don't know your password, look on your Wi-Fi router. If you still can't find it, you may need to call your internet service provider.

Installing a Printer at Home:

NOTE: Unfortunately, not all home printers will be able connect to your district computer. Most modern and common name brand printers (within the last 2 years) will work, but there is no guarantee.

Wireless Printers

1. Turn on the printer.

2. Type “Printers & Scanners” in the search bar.

3. Click “Add a printer or scanner”

4. Once your printer is located, click “add device”

5. After the printer is connected, try printing a test page.

USB Connected Printers

1. Turn on your printer and locate the printer’s USB cord.

2. Turn on your computer and login to your student account.

3. Connect your printer to the computer using the USB cord.

4. The computer will search for and automatically install the printer’s driver to the student device if available.

5. Follow the installation prompts or find it on your wireless network.

6. After the printer is installed, try printing a test page.

The Puyallup School District uses SecURLy to keep students safe on their school-issued devices. To help you monitor your student’s online activity, the Puyallup School District has made available the free SecURLyHOME app. This application allows web-based filtering and parental controls on school-issued devices at home. You may set rules to allow or disallow certain websites, pause the internet connection to the device, and receive alerts about possible bullying or self-harm detected in email and web searches.

SecURLy Parent Account Creation:

Parent and guardian accounts in SecURLy are rostered based on the guardian email associated with your Home Access Center (HAC) account. You will receive a weekly email report containing a sample of your student's online activity over the previous week.

Step 1: Download the SecURLyHOME app 

Get the Parent Portal app on your phone from your phone's app store. Real-time activity reports, right in the palm of your hand. 

 

Step 2: Open the App and click on the "send me a link" button

A link will be sent to the email address you have registered with your student's Home Access Account (HAC). Once you've clicked the link, you'll be take to the SecURLyHOME App. Your account is ready to go! 

 

Step 3: Explore and Configure

SecURLyHOME App lets you access your account information from anywhere in real-time.

 

Navigating the App

Navigate and explore different views into your student's online safety.

 

Activity

Get a real-time view of your student's online activity.

 

Flagged

Flagged searches and sites that are related to bullying, self-harm, or suicide.

 

Rules

Allow or block categories of access when your students is using a Puyallup School District device outside of school (district policies may not be overridden).

Allow or block specific websites for your student outside of school. 

 

Pause Internet

Turn off and on the internet connection on your student's Puyallup School District device outside of school.

Almost all computer problems can be solved by restarting. If Word is not working, try quitting and re-launching the application. If that does not fix it, try restarting the computer. If things still are not working correctly, here are the steps to take:

1. Ask a classmate or teacher to help.
2. Visit the Technology Library Paraeducator (TLP) in your school's library
3. Call the EdTec HelpDesk  at 253-841-8600

The EdTec HelpDesk is open for students 7am-4pm on school days.

If your computer needs a technician to repair it, the TLP can check out a hotswap computer for you to use while your device is being fixed.
