Teaching and Learning
Overview
The Teaching and Learning Department in the Puyallup School District is dedicated to fostering equitable, rigorous, and student-centered instruction across all grade levels.
Through aligned instructional systems, our team supports educators in delivering high-quality teaching that ensures every student has access to the resources, opportunities, and support needed to thrive.
Our work is guided by three key priorities:
- Standards-Based Instruction – Ensuring clear, essential learning expectations that drive instruction and assessment.
- Curriculum Alignment & Assessment – Developing and refining curriculum maps, pacing guides, and common assessments to maintain coherence and consistency across all schools.
- Professional Learning & Leadership Development – Providing ongoing, embedded professional learning to equip educators and leaders with the tools to enhance instruction.
Through collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we work to advance student achievement and close opportunity gaps. Whether designing aligned instructional materials, facilitating job-embedded professional learning, or analyzing student data to drive growth, our goal remains the same: to cultivate learning environments where all students succeed.
