Wood Chips and Play Structure Removed: Meeker Elementary Playground Transformation Underway

Playground structure removal at Meeker

The wood chips and old play structure are out of here! Crews are hard at work removing the old wood chips and the old play structure to make way for a new, inclusive play surface to be installed later this summer at Meeker Elementary.

Check out the depth of those holes! Removing the old play structure is no small task. Did you know that a common rule of thumb is to bury the poles at a depth of at least 1/3 of the total height of the play structure? This makes the removal process quite challenging. Crews dug deep to ensure thorough and safe extraction of the play structure.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of the Meeker PTA, who raised over $80,000, we are replacing half of our playground equipment with modern, fun structures! 🎉

This project is a testament to the amazing partnership between parents, the district, and our community, all dedicated to enhancing our children's outdoor learning experiences. Supported by voter-approved capital levy funds, the Capital Projects team is also upgrading aging infrastructure, installing stormwater drains and a new track, restriping hard courts, and adding accessible ground cover.

These improvements are all about creating a safe, inclusive environment for every student at Meeker.
