Roof Replacement in Full Swing at Meeker Elementary

Crews are making steady progress on a full roof replacement at Meeker Elementary

Thanks to 2024 Capital Levy, Major Maintenance is Underway

The roof is off at Meeker Elementary, and crews are making steady progress on a full replacement as part of critical building repairs funded by the 2024 voter-approved Capital Levy.

In addition to the roof replacement, this summer’s work includes new gutters, repairs to damaged lap siding, and a full exterior repaint. These repairs go beyond appearances; they are necessary to protect the structure of the building and preserve the learning environment inside.

Meeker Elementary’s roof had reached the end of its service life. Ongoing leaks and water damage posed a real risk to both the integrity of the building and the long-term usability of interior spaces. Removing the roof and addressing these issues now prevents larger problems and higher repair costs later.

“Getting ahead of known deficiencies is how we protect the community’s investment,” said Brady Martin, Executive Director of Construction, Maintenance and Facilities Planning. “Letting problems sit leads to bigger bills. This work is about doing what’s right for our students, staff, and facilities, and doing it on time.”

Last modernized in 2006, Meeker Elementary is now due for another round of planned maintenance. Capital improvements like these keep our schools functional, safe, and ready to serve the next generation without relying on costly emergency fixes.

This project is one of many included in the 2024 Capital Levy plan, which focuses on extending the life of existing facilities through responsible, proactive work. It’s a direct result of local voter support and a clear example of what levy funding makes possible.

Thank you to our community for making this work possible. Your support keeps schools like Meeker protected, safe, and ready to meet today’s educational needs.
