The water in Roger's pool is disappearing quickly. When the pool's pump failed in February 2022, we thought it would be a quick fix, but due to The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA), a law named after Virginia Graeme Baker, who died after sustaining a pool suction-drain injury in June 2002, we must bring our pool facilities into compliance. We will install new pool drains, pumps, and sand filters and move electrical equipment to a safer external location. It sounds like quite the project, and it is, but like unexpected home repairs, sometimes significant projects such as this are just part of life.
The new system may be a budget cruncher for us, but we're confident the new equipment will be worth the investment. In the long run, it will undoubtedly benefit our swimmers by providing them with a better water experience and our pool technicians with a more efficient system to manage.
We're focusing on its positive changes for our students rather than the strain of a short-term closure.
