Rogers High School Roof Repairs Slated for Summer 2025

Rogers High School eaves replacement

Thanks to community support for the 2024 Capital Levy, Rogers High School will undergo essential roof repairs this summer to prevent further structural damage and protect the long-term health of the building.

A recent building condition assessment by a structural engineer identified dry rot in the roof eaves and surrounding structures. This deterioration—caused by years of moisture exposure—has compromised the integrity of the internal gutter system and wood sunshades. The engineer’s recommendation: address the damage immediately to prevent more costly repairs down the road.

This summer’s project will involve cutting back the roof eaves beyond the internal gutters, eliminating areas that are vulnerable to rot. The old wooden sunshades will be removed and replaced with durable, galvanized metal sunshades designed to better withstand our wet Northwest climate. New fascia boards, flashing, roofing repairs, and a larger external gutter and downspout system will complete the improvements, ensuring water is directed away from the structure more effectively.

These repairs are one example of how our Capital Levy funds support smaller-scale but highly strategic construction projects that preserve the life and safety of our school buildings. By addressing issues early, we’re able to reduce long-term costs, avoid disruptions to learning, and uphold our commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and welcoming schools for all.
