Question of the Week: What should the PSD consider when analyzing the long-term benefits of safe, modern, and equitable educational facilities?

Voter-approved bonds are the district’s primary tool for funding major school construction and modernization projects.

Our last two bond proposals—totaling $800 million to replace, expand, or build seven schools—received majority support but ultimately failed to meet the state’s validation threshold. Despite this, the need remains: aging facilities, overcrowding, safety concerns, and evolving educational programs are putting pressure on buildings that are, in some cases, decades past their intended lifespan.

With limited state funding for capital projects and a growing student population, the question isn’t if we need to improve our schools—it’s how we do it in a way that our community can support.

Question of the Week:
What should the PSD consider when analyzing the long-term benefits of safe, modern, and equitable educational facilities? What advice would you offer the district as it works to build a more affordable, realistic, and community-supported bond plan?
