The Puyallup School District (PSD) is experiencing growth, similar to the challenges faced by Sumner-Bonney Lake and Orting School Districts, as highlighted in a recent News Tribune article. Like our neighbors, PSD faces overcrowding in many schools due to rapid residential development, bringing more students to our community and aging buildings.
PSD's Bond Advisory Committee (BAC) is actively reviewing projects identified by the 2021 Citizens Facility Advisory Committee and the 2024 School Capacity and Utilization Task Force. The goal is to develop a concise list of the most critical projects to address this growing need. The BAC is preparing a recommendation for the superintendent and school board regarding a bond scope and financing plan, including the timing of a possible bond election on February 11th, 2025. The final report and recommendations are due on November 18th, 2024.
We invite you to explore BAC presentations and updates at PuyallupSD.org/BAC to stay informed and involved in this process. Additionally, we are sharing a selection of questions posed by BAC members during recent meetings, which reflect the community's concerns and priorities. By addressing these questions, we hope to provide clear, accessible information about the upcoming bond proposal and its potential impact on our schools.
Answer the Bond Advisory Committee’s question of the week and learn more at Bond Advisory Committee Questions and Answers - Puyallup School District (puyallupsd.org).
Together, we can work toward solutions that shape the future of our schools and meet the needs of our growing community.
