New cooling lines installed at Karshner Elementary

Karshner Elementary Cooling Lines

Stay Cool at Karshner Elementary! 😎 We're dedicated to creating an optimal environment for our students to thrive, learn, and succeed. And exciting updates are underway at Karshner Elementary! Our crews were onsite this week installing a new cooling line to our HVAC system! ️❄️️ With this cooling upgrade, students can focus on their studies without the distraction of soaring temperatures when school's back in session this September. 📚🌡️

Karshner is only one of 297 HVAC systems we maintain district-wide. The average life expectancy of an HVAC system is approximately 20 years; our median system age district-wide is 23 years old—the oldest system is 63 years old, more than 40 years past its prime.

Maintaining our buildings and equipment is a large part of our capital budget. Our buildings are aging, and as we experience more wear and tear due to growing enrollment, it becomes even more vital to care for our district assets. As responsible stewards of taxpayer funds, there is a delicate balance between ensuring quality education for our students and managing our resources prudently. We take this responsibility seriously and will continue prioritizing these values in our decision-making process.
