Meeker Elementary School's Outdoor Learning Improvements: A Community Effort

Meeker Elementary Playground Repairs

In addition to the recently announced flooring project, we're excited to introduce another summer project that will enhance outdoor learning at Meeker Elementary.

With over $80,000 raised last year by the dedicated efforts of the Meeker PTA, their contributions will fund the replacement of half of the playground equipment with modern, engaging structures.

The playground project at Meeker exemplifies a wonderful partnership between parents and the district, all working together to improve our children's outdoor learning experiences. In addition to the PTA's generous contributions, voter-approved capital levy funds will help to replace aging infrastructure. The Capital Projects team will be instrumental in managing the removal of old equipment and overseeing several significant improvements to our school grounds. These include:

  • Upgrading Stormwater Drains: Ensuring safety and accessibility, even during heavy rain.
  • Installing a New Track: Providing a space for students to run, walk, and stay active.
  • Sealing and Restriping the Hard Court: Creating a vibrant surface for various sports and activities.
  • Replacing Old Woodchips with Accessible Ground Cover: Creating a safe and inclusive play environment for all students.

These improvements are not just about upgrading equipment and facilities but about creating an inclusive, engaging, and safe environment for all our students to learn and play. This project highlights the remarkable achievements possible when our community comes together to support our children’s education and well-being.

We invite all families and community members to celebrate the transformation of our outdoor spaces at Meeker Elementary School. Together, we are committed to enhancing our children's learning experiences through these playground improvements.
