These projects demonstrate our commitment to quality educational facilities, and we appreciate the support from our community and voters that makes these improvements possible. 2024 Capital Levy Project Updates

Upcoming Road Closure and Traffic Flow Changes near Puyallup High

Beginning September 4, 7th Street NW between 3rd Ave Northwest and West Main Street will be closed to through-traffic as part of a one-year pilot program in collaboration with the City of Puyallup. Additionally, access to 7th Street NW from 2nd Ave Northwest will be restricted. Read the full story.

New Track and Inclusive Equipment Enhance Learning Environment at Meeker Elementary

We are thrilled to celebrate progress at Meeker! The playground is undergoing a remarkable transformation, with crews now paving a new track around the field and laying down the first layer for an accessible, inclusive play surface. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the Meeker PTA, who raised over $80,000, we are replacing half of our playground equipment with modern, engaging structures!  Read the full story

Power Upgrades at PHS (Puyallup High School) Campus Set Stage for New Portable Classrooms

You might have noticed fencing around new electrical equipment and preparations for a new power pole on 8th Street, just past West Main. This new equipment will support three brand-new double portables, which will be located off West Main in the field near the existing portables. These portable classrooms will provide additional classroom space to make up for classroom space lost due to the closure of the Library Science building, which we plan to replace as part of a master plan for the PHS campus. Read the full story.

Zeiger Elementary's ECEAP Outdoor Learning Space Gets a Fun-Filled Makeover

We are excited to partner with Pierce County to enhance the outdoor learning space for our youngest Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) learners at Zeiger Elementary. Crews are installing engineered wood fiber play chips onsite and adding a large sandbox within the small, fenced area adjacent to their portable classrooms. These upgrades will provide a safe and engaging play area for the students, replacing the existing conditions of grass, rocks, and asphalt. Pierce County fully funded the project and managed by our Capital Projects team. Outdoor play is a powerhouse, sparking creativity, boosting physical development, and making learning an adventure for our students. Read the full story.

Intersection Improvements Near Maplewood Elementary

Be prepared for a slight detour if you plan to walk down West Pioneer and pass by Maplewood Elementary this month.
