Exciting changes are underway at Maplewood! Last week, our crews diligently removed gutters and prepped fascia boards for refurbishment. This week, we are thrilled to see the old roof removed and the commencement of essential roofing repairs.
We are using composition shingles made from asphalt and upcycled rubber. These shingles expand and contract with temperature changes, making them more durable. The upcycled rubber and plastic polymers come from used tires and plastic bags, enhancing shingle strength and durability while diverting waste from landfills. Automobile tires, engineered for all-weather performance, contribute their advanced technology to our shingles, improving their resilience and longevity. This process, known as upcycling, extends the product's life and the lifespan of landfills.
A well-maintained roof is crucial for the safety and longevity of our school buildings. It protects against the elements, prevents leaks, and ensures a healthy learning environment for our students and staff.
Thanks to your support and taxpayer investment in the 2024 Capital Levy, we are making critical repairs to Maplewood's roof and cupolas, ensuring our historic building remains safe and beautiful for years.
