Library-Science Building Demolition Complete at Puyallup High School

The Library-Science Building at Puyallup High School is now fully demolished

The Library-Science Building at Puyallup High School is now fully demolished, with only final landscaping work remaining. Crews have cleared the site, sorted debris for proper disposal or reuse, and begun grading and planting. Landscaping is expected to be complete this fall.

With demolition finished, the campus is one step closer to welcoming a modern, three-story instructional building, proposed by the 2024 Bond Advisory Committee. The new facility would replace the outdated 1962 Library Science building structure, last updated in 1988, with a building designed to meet today’s educational standards for science, chemistry, and biology. It would also help relieve overcrowding, reduce reliance on portables, and accommodate future enrollment growth.

Construction of the new building will move forward once bond funding becomes available, positioning the district to provide safe, high-quality learning spaces for decades to come.

Replacing the Library-Science Building, rather than investing in costly repairs, reflects the district’s commitment to long-term value, safety, and educational excellence.

This work is part of a broader, multi-year plan to modernize aging infrastructure at Puyallup High School and across the district.
