Karshner Elementary Playground Nears Completion with Zipline and ADA-Accessible Turf

Karshner Elementary playground project is almost complete

Exciting progress continues at Karshner Elementary, where the playground project is almost complete thanks to the 2024 Capital Levy. Today, crews were putting the final touches on the new ADA-accessible turf, rolling sand into the last section to ensure a smooth, safe, and durable play surface for all students, including those using wheelchairs or mobility devices.

The playground equipment is fully installed, including the much-anticipated zipline that students are sure to love. Bilingual playground signage, in both English and Spanish, ensures every student and family feels welcome.

While the five-foot-wide walking track replacing the old red cinder path is mostly paved, work is scheduled to begin next week to finish the job, creating a surface that will be usable year-round for recess, physical education, and neighborhood families.

These improvements go beyond aesthetics, they reflect a strategic investment in student wellness, inclusion, and daily experience, all made possible through local voter support. Karshner Elementary is on track to welcome students and families to the new playground at the start of school on September 3rd.
