Fresh courts, fresh starts! Puyallup High School Tennis Courts Ready for Play

2024 levy funded upgrades to the PHS tennis courts

The courts are ready for students to serve up success! Students, staff and community members who use the tennis courts at Puyallup High School can now enjoy recently completed improvements designed to support safer play and extend the life of the facility.

Over time, the court surfaces had become faded, cracked and worn due to years of use and exposure to the elements. Resurfacing work was completed this June, restoring the courts and helping maintain safe, consistent playing conditions for student athletes, physical education classes, and community users.

Regular court maintenance is an important part of preserving athletic facilities. The new surface provides smoother, more predictable playing conditions while addressing cracks and worn areas that can contribute to tripping hazards, uneven ball bounces, and drainage concerns. Student athletes will benefit from improved traction, visibility, and overall court performance.

By addressing facility needs before they become larger issues, the district can continue providing safe, functional spaces for students while protecting long-term community investments in school facilities.

Thoughtful Stewardship of Voter-Approved Capital Funds

This project was funded through the voter approved 2024 Capital Levy.

In Washington state, voter-approved funding is allocated to specific categories. Funding intended for instructional programs and learning materials are separate from funds used for construction projects and major building repairs. As such, facility improvements such as court resurfacing, roof repairs, safety upgrades, and building maintenance are funded through voter-approved capital levies and bonds.

Thank you to Puyallup School District voters for supporting the 2024 Capital Levy and continued investment in student facilities.
