2024 Capital Levy Project Updates

Meeker Elementary School's Outdoor Learning Improvements: A Community Effort

The playground project at Meeker exemplifies a wonderful partnership between parents and the district, where they are all working together to improve our children's outdoor learning experiences. In addition to the PTA's generous contributions, voter-approved capital levy funds will help to replace aging infrastructure. The Capital Projects team will be instrumental in managing the removal of old equipment and overseeing several significant improvements to our school grounds. Read the full story

Our crews are making great progress at the Rogers Aquatic Center! We installed new tiles along the pool deck this week and repaired gutters. Summer Upgrades Underway for Puyallup High School Pool

Funding News 

New SmartSign Installed to Enhance Safety Near Ballou Junior High, Firgrove Elementary

In a collaborative effort to enhance traffic safety around Ballou Junior High and Firgrove Elementary, a new SmartSign has been installed. This sign is similar to the SmartSign serving Rogers High School and Zieger Elementary on 128th Street near the crosswalk on 90th Ave E. This safety initiative made possible through a partnership with the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and a grant they received, aims to address concerning driver behavior identified in a recent survey. Read the full story

Woodland Elementary School Solar Grant Awarded

We are thrilled to announce that Woodland Elementary School received a substantial solar grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce Energy Division through the Community Decarbonization Grants. This $1.7M grant will enable the installation of a 221.4 kW solar array on the school's rooftop. Read the full story 

Capital Projects Secures Grant for ADA Handrail Project at Sparks Stadium, Pursues Massive Solar Initiative and Energy Audits for Local Schools

The Capital Projects team continues to work towards securing state and federal funds to bolster educational resources and infrastructure within the Puyallup School District. By applying for grants, the team seeks to leverage external financial support to enhance the learning environment for PSD students and educators. Read the full story

Understanding Energy Intensity in Schools and Its Importance

Energy Intensity (EUI) is a measure of how much energy a building uses in a year, divided by its total floor area. It is usually measured in energy units like kBtu (Kilo British Thermal Units) or GJ (gigajoules) per square foot per year.  Read the full story
