Maplewood Elementary's Heating Tackled with Precision: Maintenance Efforts Align with Clean Buildings Act Compliance

McKinstry engineers observed that specific classrooms at Maplewood Elementary were experiencing delays in heating up during chilly winter mornings.  

After a thorough investigation, engineers identified a recurring issue of equipment "cycling," which means the machine switched on but turned off shortly after that, not warming the room for staff and students.  

Our maintenance staff pinpointed the underlying causes, and with targeted and minor maintenance efforts, they are working to restore the equipment's functionality and ensure optimal classroom heating conditions

This work is part of our effort to comply with the Clean Buildings Act, a new state law. Puyallup School District needs significant building upgrades district-wide to comply within the next three school years.  

The Washington State Clean Building Act is a new policy to enhance energy efficiency and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. It focuses on commercial buildings, including public schools. This legislative initiative is pivotal in the state's comprehensive strategy to combat climate change by bolstering the energy performance of existing structures. This endeavor aligns closely with the state's 2019 climate package and is a pioneering effort nationally.
