Edgerton Elementary Playground Set for Major Upgrade This Summer

Capital levy funded Edgerton Elementary Playground replacement

Edgerton Elementary is getting a full playground overhaul this summer—bringing safer, more inclusive, and more accessible outdoor play to all students. This important upgrade is made possible by the 2024 voter-approved Capital Levy.

Built initially with funding from the 2004 Bond and matched state dollars, Edgerton’s playground has served students for nearly 20 years. But time, weather, and wear have taken a toll. Playground equipment is failing, the wood chip fall surface limits accessibility, and key infrastructure—like fencing and painted play areas—is overdue for repair.

That changes this summer.

Work will include replacing both large and small Kompan play structures, removing outdated wood chips and raised curbing, and installing new ADA-compliant synthetic play turf. This modern surface not only improves safety but also ensures children of all abilities can access and enjoy the space.

Beyond the play area, the project will improve the broader outdoor environment. Crews will install a new 1,200-foot paved walking path around the field, reseed worn turf areas, repair any damaged fencing, and restripe hard-surface play game lines in durable white or yellow paint—making future upkeep easier and more cost-effective.

This is exactly the kind of proactive, high-impact project the Capital Levy was designed to support: thoughtful reinvestment that extends the life of our facilities and enhances the students' experience.

Thank you, voters, for backing our schools and helping ensure every student has a place to learn, grow, and play.
