Task Force Shares Feasibility Findings for Spinning and Waller Road Elementary Schools

The School Capacity and Utilization Task Force recently presented findings to the Puyallup School Board on the feasibility of housing students at Spinning and Waller Road Elementary Schools, two aging buildings with limited permanent capacity and continued reliance on portables. The Task Force studied multiple scenarios, including alternative housing options, enrollment shifts, boundary adjustments, program placement, transportation impacts, and portable classroom needs. These scenarios were informational only and not recommendations for action, providing the Board with insight into operational and student impacts should either school reach a point where it could no longer be safely maintained.

New Student Information System (SIS)

New 'Focus' Student Information System Coming to PSD Schools

A new Student Information System (SIS) called Focus is coming to Puyallup School District next school year. The updated system will bring improvements for families, including a new 504 portal, expanded translation options, and a simpler online enrollment process. Learn when these changes will roll out and what families can expect throughout the transition on our website.

Families will begin to see the first updates during online enrollment in February, when the new enrollment portal becomes available for new student applications. Existing families will be invited to create Focus accounts later in the school year as part of the full transition.

What is an SIS?
Student Information System, or SIS, is the central technology platform that manages essential school operations such as attendance, scheduling, grading, enrollment, and student records. Our SIS, funded by the 2024 Capital Levy, is a districtwide infrastructure upgrade that supports how schools operate, communicate, and serve families over time.

Onsite pick-up and drop-off at Fruitland

Onsite Pick-up and Drop-off at Fruitland begins Jan. 5

The entire Capital Projects team would like to thank the Fruitland staff, students, and families for their support the past few months while the team worked to improve safety for students coming and going from Fruitland Elementary. These improvements will not only help protect our students and families entering and leaving the property, but improve safety for drivers on Fruitland Ave.   Traffic and parking upgrades are part of the 2024 Capital Levy investment.

Parking reminders:

  • No parking in the fire line.
  • No parking near the gym. This area is for buses only.

Safety Notes

  • A crossing guard will be positioned at the end of the outer lane used for K–2.
  • Pull forward as far as possible before letting your student out.
  • No student pick-up or drop off in posted "pull forward only" areas.
