The Puyallup School District, in collaboration with our PowerED Partner McKinstry and Puget Sound Energy (PSE), has made remarkable progress in energy efficiency and sustainability over the past year.
Through the optimization of systems and the use of Energy Star-rated materials, the PowerED partnership has played a pivotal role in reducing energy consumption district-wide. These efforts have not only helped pave the way for a more sustainable future but also resulted in significant cost savings for our schools.
To date, we have received $131,452.00 in savings from PSE, thanks in part to the following initiatives:
$15,127.00 – Jag Field Athletic Lighting
$76,000.00 – PSE Annual Energy Savings Incentive
$40,325.00 – PSE Grant Payment for PHS Pool Equipment
In recognition of these accomplishments, the district recently received an energy savings check for the past year. We will soon receive a PSE Incentive for the projects that generated these savings. This acknowledgment underscores the dedication and teamwork that have driven us toward our energy efficiency goals.
To celebrate this milestone, PSE joined us at our March 03 school board meeting to present the PowerED team with a ceremonial "Large Check." This presentation highlighted the impactful work completed over the last year and the positive results for our district.
The energy savings from these projects directly contribute to reducing building costs, allowing us to reinvest in enhanced services and improved facilities. This reinvestment creates better learning environments for our students, helping them to thrive.
We are incredibly proud of the PowerED team and grateful for our ongoing partnerships with McKinstry and PSE. Together, we continue to prioritize sustainability, efficiency, and financial stewardship. Stay tuned for more updates as we work toward building a greener, more sustainable future for all!
