Carson’s Playground Transformation is Underway

Summer is now in full swing, and work is progressing on Carson Elementary School’s playground. 

Thanks to voter support for the 2024 Capital Levy, construction crews are making steady progress on a complete playground renovation. This project will provide new opportunities for students to play, explore, and connect when school resumes in the fall. 

Since the start of summer break, crews have removed all existing playground equipment and begun preparing the site for new play structures, which were delivered this week. Using a large auger machine, workers are carefully mapping and drilling holes that will serve as the footing for the new equipment. 

Have you ever wondered what is beneath the playground turf? Take a look. Beneath the surface, specialized fall protection matting helps cushion impacts and improve safety for students at play. The new safety surfacing being installed at Carson is designed to provide a durable, accessible, and safe play environment. 

The existing playground has reached the end of its useful service life. This summer’s project will replace aging equipment and surfaces with a modern play area designed to improve safety, accessibility, and year-round use for all students. 

The renovation will create a more inclusive environment where children of varying abilities can play, learn, and connect. Updated equipment and improved site features will help ensure the playground remains a valuable resource for Carson students and the surrounding neighborhood for years to come. 

Construction will continue throughout the summer while school is out, minimizing disruptions to students and staff. When complete, the new playground will provide enhanced opportunities for recreation, physical activity, imagination, and social interaction in a welcoming and accessible setting. 

This project is one of many facility improvements funded through the 2024 voter-approved Capital Levy, supporting the district’s commitment to maintaining safe, functional, and engaging learning environments.
