Carson Elementary Scheduled to Receive Full Playground Renovation This Summer

Carson Elementary Playground replacement

Safer, more accessible outdoor spaces funded by the 2024 Capital Levy

This summer, Carson Elementary will undergo a full playground renovation designed to improve safety, accessibility, and year-round use for students. The project is funded by the 2024 voter-approved Capital Levy and reflects the district’s continued focus on maintaining and modernizing school facilities.

Walking Path Now Complete

Families may have already noticed the first phase of improvements. A new paved walking path around the field has been completed and is open for use ahead of schedule.

The path:

  • Improves accessibility for students of all abilities
  • Supports safer movement for students and staff
  • Provides a stable surface during wet winter months

The addition helps reduce muddy conditions and supports more consistent, reliable access throughout the school year.

Playground Replacement Scheduled for Summer

The current playground, originally funded through a 2004 bond and state match project, features woodchip groundcover that can be challenging for students and staff with limited mobility.

This summer’s work will include:

  • Replacement of the existing play structure
  • Installation of synthetic fall grass surfacing
  • Sealing and restriping of the hard play surface

These updates are intended to create a more inclusive play environment and extend the life of the facility.

The Carson project reflects the purpose of the 2024 Capital Levy: proactive reinvestment in school facilities. Thank you to our voters and school communities for your continued support of capital improvements that maintain safe, accessible, spaces to learn, play and grow.
