Building strength from the Ground Up: Weight Room Floor Replacement at ERHS Underway

Strong athletes need a strong foundation. This summer, the Emerald Ridge High School weight room floor is receiving an upgrade. 

Funded by the 2024 Capital Levy, crews are replacing the failed concrete floor to create a safer and more durable training environment for students. 

Work began earlier this summer with the removal of weight room equipment and the demolition of sections of the deteriorating concrete floor. Next, crews installed new pinned concrete designed to support heavy loads and provide long-term stability for athletic use. 

Next, the space will receive new 9 mm rubber flooring, along with larger heavy-duty lifting mats. These additions will help protect the concrete from impacts caused by heavy weightlifting activities, including deadlifts and other strength training exercises. 

This project is one of many facility improvements made possible through the 2024 voter-approved Capital Levy. By addressing aging infrastructure and improving student training environments, these investments help keep students safe and support both academic and extracurricular activities.
