2024 Capital Levy Project Modernizes Zeiger Playground

Summer construction is underway at Zeiger Elementary, and families returning this fall will see significant improvements to the school’s outdoor play area. 

Crews have removed the aging playground equipment and expanded the play space to provide more room for students to play, explore, and connect. Work is now focused on preparing the site for installation of the new playground. 

A key upgrade, taking place behind the scenes, is the installation of a new underground drainage system. This system will move water away from the playground more efficiently, reducing standing water and minimizing wet conditions and playground ponding during the rainy season. Combined with a new synthetic turf-style fall protection surface, these improvements will create a cleaner, drier, and more accessible play environment for all students. 

In addition to the playground replacement, crews will seal coat and restripe the adjacent hard play surface, helping extend the life of these outdoor facilities for Zeiger students and neighborhood families. 

The Zeiger Elementary playground project is funded by the 2024 Capital Levy and reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, functional, and inclusive learning environments. By replacing aging infrastructure before it fails, the district maximizes the lifespan of its facilities while creating spaces where students can thrive.
