NOTICE: Street Closure, 7th Street NW, 2024-2025 School Year
We are pleased to announce a pilot project in collaboration with the City of Puyallup aimed at enhancing the safety of students and staff on the Puyallup High School (PHS) campus. Beginning, November 4th, for the 2024-2025 school years, 7th Street NW from 3rd Ave Northwest to West Main Street will be gated, effectively closing this section to through traffic. Additionally, there will be no access to 7th Street NW from 2nd Ave Northwest.
To ensure emergency services remain unaffected, the district will install gates allowing fire department access to the buildings when needed.
Families are encouraged to use 6th Street SW for student drop-off and pick-up, while buses will pick up and drop off students behind the Aquatics Center on 6th Street NW.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work to create a safer environment for our school community.
We are dedicated to enhancing Puyallup High School. Over the next four years, our Capital Projects team will undertake a series of construction projects focused on building improvements, technology upgrades, safety and security enhancements, and outdoor program advancements. Each initiative is crucial in meeting the evolving needs of our students and staff.
With the generous support of our community, the 2024 Capital Levy funds will allow us to replace, improve, and restore essential public infrastructure. We are excited about the positive impact these enhancements will have on the educational experience throughout our district.

*Much of the funding included in this capital levy is not just related to systems that need replacement due to their age but are also tied to becoming compliant with the Clean Buildings Act. We agree that the intent of this legislation is good for improving our impact on the environment, conserving energy, and lowering our operations costs, however it will take a significant investment. Without funding, it will be impossible to reach the benchmarks required to avoid the fines that will be levied by the state. Those fines would be paid from the general fund and could be thousands of dollars, again, impacting the resources available for teaching and learning. Learn more about our CBA requirements.

Summer Upgrades Underway for Puyallup High School Pool
School’s out and summer upgrades are underway for the Puyallup High School pool. Thanks to the support of voters who approved the February 2024 capital levy, our Capital Projects team launched a major refurbishment to enhance efficiency, safety, and longevity of the pool on Tuesday, June 18. Key improvements include replacing old pumps with high-efficiency models, upgrading to modern motors, installing new drives for better control, and fitting new sand filters for superior water quality. Additionally, the cooling tower will receive a protective epoxy coating to extend its service life. These upgrades reflect our commitment to providing quality facilities, ensuring a safer, more reliable, and sustainable experience for all.
